She also studied ballet, jazz, tap, point, acro and contemporary dance. ![]() The Emmy award-winning D'Umos are credited in the modern dance world for the development of lyrical hip-hop. When her family relocated to Madison, Wisc., Nealis joined another competitive dance team and from the fourth through seven grades, she had opportunity to dance with celebrity choreographers Wade Robson and Tabitha and Napoleon D'Umo, all of FOX TV's "So You Think You Can Dance." Robson has directed music videos and world tours for 'N Sync and Britney Spears, among other star dance artists. That's when I really caught the bug," she said. "By the third grade, I was on a competition team with my studio and I loved it. She began dancing in Illinois, when she was just in the first grade. "I was born in Florida and lived in Kansas, Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin and now here," she said. "We would watch the dance team and he would say to me, 'That could be you one day.'"Īlthough Nealis became deeply rooted in the Bridgeport community five years ago, she has lived in various places across the U.S. "My dad has always been a big Mountaineer fan and we went to the games together," she said. It was something she had aspired to do since moving to West Virginia during her eighth grade year.
